Employee of the Month (September 2005)

Greensboro, N.C. - When her student was diagnosed with cancer, she regularly made the long trek to his Chapel Hill hospital room to ensure that he kept up with his school work. She organized fundraisers for his family, invited counselors into the school to help his second grade classmates understand his illness, and created for her student a portfolio filled with photos and well wishes.
She's described as nice , fun and compassionate . We describe her as Employee of the Month .
Beth Rigsbee, a second-grade teacher at General Greene Elementary was selected as Guilford County Schools' Employee of the Month for September 2005.
"Beth is a fantastic teacher," said Kimberly Thomas, who nominated Rigsbee for the district's employee recognition program. "The kids adore her and the staff does too!"
In addition to her teaching responsibilities at General Greene Elementary, Rigsbee serves as a mentor to new teachers and acts as an onsite teacher educator for college interns and student teachers.
As Guilford County Schools' Employee of the Month, Rigsbee received a $50 gift card from Sam's Club, who has partnered with GCS to execute the employee recognition program. Sam's Club also presented the second grade teacher with a gift bag at a ceremony held on August 30. Rigsbee's photo will hang on a plaque at the district's three central offices, at General Greene Elementary and at Sam's Club on Wendover Avenue . In addition, the Guilford County Board of Education will recognize Rigsbee at its September 13 meeting.
