Employee of the Month (November 2006)
Guilford County School Announce Marshall Smith as Employee of the Month
It takes a lot to keep a school going. Just ask Marshall Smith, who in addition to his responsibilities as a technology teacher, is also known around Smith High as a jack of all trades. Maybe you’ll see him in the parking lot repainting the lines, or maybe he’s constructing props for the prom. The November GCS Employee of the Month made 30 mock rifles for the Air Force JROTC to use in practice for drill meets. Not only does he fix anything that’s broken – even an electric pencil sharpener – but he also films important school events. This teacher doesn’t just paint the bathrooms and make signs for classrooms, he does it all with a smile.
As Employee of the Month, Smith received a $50 gift card from Sam’s Club, which has partnered with GCS to support the employee recognition program. In addition, the Guilford County Board of Education will recognize him at its November 9 meeting. Marshall’s photograph will hang at the district’s main offices as well as Sam’s Club on Wendover Avenue in Greensboro.
