Employee of the Month (May 2007)

Randall HackettGuilford County Schools Announce Athletic Director as Employee of the Month

After the devastating fire at Eastern Guilford High, Guilford County Schools (GCS) faculty and staff worked day and night to get the students back into class. Randall Hackett faced his own set of problems – how to get the Wildcats back on the court and field. Hackett worked with different facility managers and athletic directors to schedule practices and contests at satellite sites. Collaborating with the GCS Transportation Department, Hackett was able to devise a schedule of shuttles that worked around the students’ varied schedules to get them from the split campuses to the satellite facilities.

According to Assistant Principal Leigh Hebbard, who nominated Hackett: “Throughout all of this, Mr. Hackett has exhibited a high level of professionalism and has tried to make all decisions in the best interest of the student-athletes. With our school being separated, athletics has been the one common thread that has provided the Wildcat family many opportunities to see each other. Mr. Hackett is a credit to the school and community for all he has done to keep the athletic program fully operational during this stressful time for all of us.”

As Employee of the Month, Hackett received a $50 gift card from Sam’s Club, which has partnered with GCS to support the employee recognition program. In addition, the Guilford County Board of Education will recognize him at its May 8 meeting.
