Employee of the Month (October 2007)
Guilford County Schools Announces Employee of the Month
For the last year, life at Eastern High has been hectic to say the least. But Assistant Principal Leigh Hebbard has been a source of strength for the students, staff and parents. Not only has he served as an administrator, but he also stepped in and performed well outside of his routine duties to keep the school running smoothly. According to the parent who nominated him, “I am rarely at the campus when I do not run into him and there is never a problem or question that he cannot deal with.”
Hebbard has been at the school for more than a decade and has served in several capacities, including athletic director. He can be found at the school on almost any given night, weekend or holiday and when he was once asked why he doesn’t work closer to home, Hebbard replied, "I have been at Eastern for so long that it is like my home now!" While serving as the primary administrator when Eastern utilized the GTCC-Greensboro facility, Hebbard set up office in a GCS administrative building so he could work on the weekends when the GTCC building was locked. For his persistent dedication to the students, families and staff at Eastern, Hebbard was selected as the district’s October Employee of the Month.
As Employee of the Month, Hebbard received a $50 gift card from Sam’s Club, which has partnered with GCS to support the employee recognition program.
