Orientation Schedule
Lateral Entry Orientation runs throughout the year in order to accommodate all newly hired teachers. Pre-designated Lateral Entry start dates coincide with the start dates of Lateral Entry Orientation providing for a smooth start for every teacher. During your 10 day orientation experience, you will explore topics that will prepare you to successfully enter a classroom. You will gain knowledge and skills in many areas including but not limited to: district procedures and policies, school procedures and policies, diverse learners, instructional design and planning, instructional delivery, instructional strategies, classroom management, communication and involvement. You will receive a First Year Teacher’s Survival Guide and Toolkit that are yours to keep.
All orientation sessions take place in our Lateral Entry Resource and Advising Center located in the warehouse building at 712 North Eugene Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. Lateral Entry Orientation faculty can be reached by calling (336) 378-8823 or by emailing Tina Johnson at johnsot2@gcsnc.com.
