Tutor Information

Guilford County Schools employs both certified and non-certified tutors. However, certified teachers are highly desired. Students currently enrolled in education programs at local colleges and universities are encouraged to apply. Non-certified tutors must meet the federal "No Child Left Behind" Paraprofessional criteria for "highly qualified" by one of the following means:

48 semester hours of transferrable college coursework with a minimum GPA of 2.0
Associates degree or higher
Passing Work Keys tests and 96 hours of Staff Development or 6 semester hours od college coursework

Candidates interested in tutoring should submit an online application at www.gcsnc.com and copies of your official transcripts and/or teaching license to the Office of Employment at 712 N. Eugene Street Greensboro, NC 27401.

Each individual school is responsible for determining their tutoring needs and selecting tutors accordingly. Therefore, candidates should contact the schools they are interested in tutoring for to express their interest. Candidates recommended for hire in a tutoring position must complete all applicable employment forms including a release of Information form and a Health Certificate. A representative from the Staffing Office will contact all candidates recommended for tutoring positions to ensure completion of appropriate employment paperwork.
