Employee Emeritus

After 5,982.2 years of commitment and service among them, 251 GCS employees retired in 2007. Dr. Terry Grier, the Guilford County Board of Education and GCS employees honored these devoted individuals at a retirement reception on August 7. The district thanked the retirees for their service and dedication.

Of the retirees, 138 have dedicated 25 years or more of service to GCS and have been given the distinction of Employee Emeritus. One instructional improvement officer, Anne Murr, served the district for 40 years!  She and all retirees received Harris Teeter gift cards as a special “thank you” for their dedication to GCS. The district recognizes that the success of its students depends on the dedication of its employees who strive to create and maintain exceptional learning opportunities for all students.
