Fastest Kids in Guilford County Display Speed and Fitness
GCS, the National Scholastic Sports Foundation and Nike Outdoor Nationals Hold Fourth Annual Fastest Kid Competition

Guilford County Schools, along with Nike Outdoor Nationals and the National Scholastic Sports Foundation, found the fastest elementary school boy and girl, as well as the fastest middle school boy and girl at the fourth annual Fastest Kid competition at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
For the second year in a row, Gabrielle Gray from Welborn Middle was the quickest middle school girl, running the race in 12.13 seconds – a new meet record. Chris Boyd from The Academy at Lincoln was the fastest middle school boy with a time of 11.89 seconds.
In the elementary division, Ariel Davis from Jones Spanish Immersion was the quickest girl. She finished the 100-meter race in 14.32 seconds. With a time of 12.13, DeVonte Williams from Brightwood Elementary was the speediest of the boys.
The event kicked off on Thursday with a clinic open to all students. Participants received a free T-shirt. The clinic was followed by preliminaries, which saw a record number of entrants – more than 200. At the finals on Friday, the top six finishers of each division received a medal for their hard work.
