Dudley Students Work Hard for Educational Achievement
Twelve Students Rewarded for Challenging Themselves throughout High School
Twelve Dudley High School graduates received the High Schools That Work (HSTW) Award of Educational Achievement. The awards were presented on Friday, May 26 by school administrators during their annual senior capping ceremony.
Students qualify for the award by completing a college-preparatory course of study in at least two of the three subject areas (English, mathematics or science), complete a concentration in career/technical area, mathematics/science or the humanities and meet performance goals in all three areas on the HSTW assessment.
“These students are to be commended for their efforts,” said Principal Phyllis Martin. “They have taken challenging courses in high school and scored high on rigorous exams, which will increase the likelihood of their success in the workplace and further education.”
Award recipients include: Brittany Chestnut, Taija Cubbage, Kendra Dillard, Tiara Johnson, Brian Jones, Derell Logan, Preston McKenzie, Crystal Person, Ashley Short, Princess Smith, Justin Williams and Montwaun Young.
HSTW is the largest high school improvement effort in the United States, with more than 1,100 school sites in 32 states. HSTW is supported by member states and grants from organizations such as the Wallace Foundation, Goldman Sachs Foundation, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, Carnegie Corporation, Whitehead Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
