Sumner Elementary Principal Receives Young Alumni Award

Brian Clarida, principal of Sumner Elementary, was selected as the 2010 recipient of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro’s Young Alumni Award.
The award is presented to a UNCG alumni each year and honors those alumni who are 40 years of age and younger when nominated. It recognizes exceptional achievement and significant contribution to the recipient's profession, community/society or university.
Clarida will be recognized at the UNCG Chancellor’s annual recognition event on May 10.
Prior to joining GCS in 2006, Clarida served as principal of Lawsonville Avenue Elementary in Reidsville. He began his career as a middle school teacher in 1998.
Clarida received his Master of Arts degree from UNCG in 2002. He also has a Master of Science degree and bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. In 2005, he earned his Doctorate of Education from Nova Southeastern University.
