The Guilford County Schools (GCS) Purchasing Department received the 2008 Sustained Professional Purchasing Award (SPPA) by the Carolinas Association of Governmental Purchasing (CAGP).
This award is presented annually to member agencies that demonstrate excellence in purchasing standards during the calendar year.
“We are extremely excited to learn that we received this award from CAGP,” said John Mann, purchasing officer. “It represents all of our dedicated staff members, who work hard every day to ensure that the district receives maximum benefits from state, local and federal funds.”
The award is based on an agency’s use of technology, minority outreach, staff certification, customer training, vendor training and the use of recycled products. The department is one of only 13 agencies in the association to receive this award. The SPPA Award will be presented at the CAGP spring conference on March 6 in New Bern, N.C.
