Stokesdale Elementary students received a free performance from country music star Jason Michael Carroll Friday. The performance was awarded to the school by radio station WTQR as part of a Penny Drive it held with NewBridge Bank to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A cheering crowd of students from third, fourth and fifth grades gave Carroll a warm welcome, and in return, received a personal performance of several radio favorites. After the performance, Carroll spent time talking with the students, taking photographs and signing autographs.
Throughout the performance and in his conversations with the students, he reminded them of the importance of staying in school and learning as much as they could so they could apply it to the career of their choice one day.
