Important Transportation Deadlines

Deadline is June 24 for Magnet Schools/High School Options, July 20 for Traditional Schools

Contact: Jennifer Landes (336) 370-8353
Created: 6/16/2009 3:59:53 PM

There are two important deadlines approaching for students who plan to ride the bus during the 2009-10 school year. Parents or guardians of Guilford County Schools (GCS) students must submit transportation request forms within the deadline to ensure a bus assignment on the first day of school.

1. Magnet Schools/High School Options: The deadline for submitting transportation requests for students enrolled in magnet schools/high school options is June 24. Transportation request forms for magnet schools/high school options were included with the student’s acceptance letter to the program. If needed, parents can obtain a duplicate letter and transportation request form at the GCS Student Assignment Office, 120 Franklin Blvd., Greensboro, NC, 27401.

Upon receipt of a magnet school transportation request form, the GCS Transportation Department will mail a notification post card to parents/guardians. The post card serves as the student’s receipt of submission of the transportation form. If individuals do not receive a post card within seven business days after submitting a request, they should contact the GCS Transportation Department at 336-370-8920.

2. Traditional Schools: The deadline for traditional schools is July 20. Individuals can return completed request forms to the GCS Transportation Department, 131 Franklin Blvd., Greensboro, NC, 27401. Individuals can submit faxed applications to 336-370-8932.

Students enrolled in traditional schools who received transportation last year and will attend the same school do not need to submit a request form unless: • The student did not ride the bus last year; • The student moved to a different address; or • The student’s morning or afternoon transportation address is different.
