Sam’s Club Recognizes Reading Specialist as Outstanding Employee

Babs Jones goes the extra mile for everyone in the Vandalia Elementary family

Contact: Lillian M. Govus (336) 370-8997

At Vandalia Elementary, the students and staff know they can count on Babs Jones, a reading specialist and part-time employee, to be there whenever and however she’s needed. Every day, she works with small groups of students, and when she gets done, Jones prepares reading materials for them to take home, collects donated books, decorates the school and even brings in baked goods for her colleagues. She sacrifices whatever it takes – her time, her energy and even her own money – to make sure that her students and coworkers have everything they need to achieve educational excellence.

Jones was surprised with the Guilford County Schools (GCS) Employee of the Month honors, and as such, she will receive a $50 gift card from Sam’s Club, which has generously partnered with GCS to support the employee recognition program. During the month of July, her photo will hang at the district’s central offices, Vandalia and the Sam’s Club on Wendover Avenue. In addition, the Guilford County Board of Education will recognize her at its July 7 meeting.

Know an outstanding employee like Jones who leads by example and settles for nothing less than excellence? Nominate him or her to be the GCS Employee of the Month here:
