Athletics

All Guilford County high schools are members of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and operate under the rules and regulations of that organization. If interest exists, each high school offers the full complement of the 21 sports in which the NCHSAA sponsors state championships. Guilford County high schools are spread among 6 different athletic conferences and across 3 different state-wide classifications. Each school has it's own athletic director responsible for operating the athletic program at that school.

At the middle school level, Guilford County's 18 schools offer 12 interscholastic athletic activities conducted under the rules and regulations of the State Board of Education. Two additional sports, wrestling and golf, exist at schools where interest is sufficient to support a team. The 18 schools are divided into 3 athletic conferences for competition.
