Chemical Process Technology Curriculum
Highlights
Students interested in the Chemical and Process Manufacturing area begin by taking Principles of Technology. Here a hands-on approach is used to understand the principles and concepts of mechanical, electrical, fluid, and thermal systems as they relate to work, force, rate, resistance, energy, and power.
Following the Principles of Technology Class, they take Chemical Principles. Here the simulation of task performed by the lab technician and chemical process operator gives students a first hand look at the chemical industry.
The Chemical process industry offers employment in a variety of areas. Examples include pharmaceuticals, dyes, flavorings, silicone, photography chemicals, and agriculture products. A process operator with an associate degree can begin at $14.00 or more per hour. Chemical engineers average beginning salaries of $35,000.00 or more.
