About John Eldridge

John Eldridge is the Executive Director for the Enrichment Region.

Eldridge previously served the district as an instructional improvement officer, overseeing seven high schools. Prior to working for Guilford County Schools, Eldridge was the principal of Chatham Central High School in Bear Creek, N.C. Under Eldridge’s leadership in 2004, Chatham Central was recognized as one of the most Promising High Schools in North Carolina and a Model School by the International Center for Leadership in Education. Also in 2004, Eldridge was recognized as the Wachovia Principal of the Year for Chatham County and the Central/Piedmont Triad Regional Principal of the Year.

Eldridge began his career in 1992 as a teacher at Siler City Elementary School in Chatham County. As a teacher, he focused on building relationships with students. Each year that the ABC testing program was in place, Eldridge’s students led the school in academic growth. He then moved on to be an assistant principal at the school for three years.

Eldridge has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, and earned his Masters of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is now in his final year of earning a doctorate in educational administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
