An online news magazine for kids.  In addition to interesting articles, there are links to surveys, games and quizzes.

Online English Grammar
This site is an excellent reference tool for grammar rules on word usage and parts of speech.  Topics can be accessed from the Table of Contents or from a Subject index. 
Common Errors in the English Language
Scroll to bottom of this page and choose: Go to errors. Select a word or phase from the list to see how its should be used in the English language and how it is often misused.

Vocabulary Workshop
This site gives the definitions of prefixes and suffixes. Print out the vocabulary exercises. Determine the root, prefix and suffix for each word. Select Answer to reveal the answers to your worksheet.

AAA Math
This is an awesome site for interactive practice for students of all grade levels. Select your grade level or math topic to begin. Topics that address the 7th grade curriculum are computation, geometry, divisibility, fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, measurement, consumer math, area, perimeter, circumference, volume, integers, inequalities, and scientific notation.

Math2
This site provides reference tables for math concepts such as fraction-to-decimal conversion, measurement conversion, and finding area and volume. It also provides references for algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, calculus and advanced math topics.

Math Help for Students from Math Goodies
This site provides many free interactive math lessons and activities for the students in math concept areas, such as statistics, pre-algebra, probability, integers, percent and percentages, number theory, circumference, area and perimeter. 

Math Advantage
Select a grade level and choose an interactive math activity. Additional activities and printable materials can be found by selecting the Parent and Teacher view. This site requires Shockwave and Adobe Acrobat for many of the activities.

Math Quizzes
This site provides quizzes on math topics that will help students assess their study needs.

Tangrams
Choose from three interactive websites, where you can move and rotate the basic geometric shapes that create a tangram to reproduce a variety of figures.

Web Resources for Science

DNA is an Instructional Manual
Use this site to introduce students to DNA. In its interactive slide show format, students can view a hand and move closer to view even the hand's cellular makeup. If you have shockwave, you can "Search for the Sequence" and find the DNA strand.

Web Elements
Access the periodic table on the WWW.  Each element in the table is linked to information about the element. An audio clip of the elements description can be played on Realplayer. Images of the element are also available.

Expedia.com
This site is a great resource for travel information for most countries around the world. Students may acquire a map of any location by using the map tab at the top of the page and by selecting Find a Map. This site also provides all the facts you may need for your research. Check out the currency converter and the link for weather conditions!

The Living Africa
This site contains pictures and information about the people, land, wildlife and national parks of Africa. Students may go on a virtual safari as well as play a wildlife conservation game. The Living Atlas supplies magnificent map resources.

Asian Studies WWW VL
This site provides links to and about all of the Asian countries. Excellent resource for your social studies projects!

China Multimedia Photography
Visit this extraordinary web site for a virtual tour of China. The 360 degree panoramas are designed to give the viewer a realistic view of the scenery. Links to more photographs and information are provided in the panoramas. In the Tibet Game, one can tour Tibet and do good deeds to improve one's karma as one learns about this amazing autonomous region of China. Visit Tiananmen Square, walk the Great Wall of China, or stroll the YuYuan Garden which was built more than 400 years ago. Go to Shanghai and view the city after dark. Watch streaming video of the Shanghai Acrobats (Real Player required). Increased RAM (memory) may be needed to view this website.

NC WiseOwl is a site published by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. This site provides an incredible wealth of reference materials which include access to online encyclopedias, periodicals, journals, dictionaries and photographs. Contact your school media specialist to obtain passwords for at home access.

Dictionary.com
Type in any word and get the correct spelling, definition, respelling, part of speech and related words. There are many types of dictionaries at this site such as sign language, translators for languages, rhyming dictionaries.

School Subjects
Need help finding information for a school research project or just need help with homework? This site provides many links for school subjects, reference resources, student leisure, search engines and more! Select computers and choose free clipart to gain access to a wonderful selection of clipart and photographs!

This site contains hundreds of links to grade appropriate topics. Select the middle school icon and look at the links in each subject area.
