Morning Show

  • Passport is back!  Our Passport Committee has been hard at work revising our Passport program to make it more relevant for 21st Century students. For those of you new to our Brooks community, Passport is a program for second through fifth grade students that helps them learn world geography.  Each year, students will learn all of the countries in their continent of study.

In the coming days, students in second through fifth grade will receive their August Passport 2.0 maps.  Please check back here for videos on how to best help your child study for Passport 2.0!

To make Passport 2.0 a success, we need a large corps of parent volunteers to devote just thirty minutes a month to testing students on Passport Pass-off Day!  Follow this link to volunteer!  Training and a cheat sheet will be provided!

For more information, go to the Passport 2.0 information link on our Web page.

  • This summer, GCS, once again, has joined with community partners to keep students reading during the summer.  Students who read at least 800 minutes this summer will earn a ticket to one of two Kersey Valley attractions and a coupon at a participating Wendy’s restaurant.

Minutes must be completed between June 20 and Aug. 7, 2018. Complete your reading log and submit your minutes by Aug. 14, 2018 to be eligible. At Kersey Valley, students may choose between a Maize Adventure (all ages) or Spookywoods ticket (recommended age 12+).  Students can submit their minutes to Mrs. Pinyan or online at this link.

More information on preventing the summer slide, links to local library programs and a printable reading log can be found on the GCS website at https://www.gcsnc.com/Page/46141
