  • Good afternoon,

Due to the significant accumulation of ice and the number of secondary roads that have not yet been cleared causing unsafe travel conditions across the county, all GCS schools will be REMOTE TOMORROW, Wednesday, January 19.

Tomorrow, our school will follow the regular school-day schedule: 11:00 AM-12:30 PM (1st Block); 12:35 PM- 2:05 PM (2nd Block); 2:10 PM- 3:40 PM (3rd Block); 3:45 PM- 5:15 PM (4th Block). Make sure that you are logging onto your Microsoft Teams meetings for each of your high school classes on time and prepared for instruction.

It is an expectation that ALL students have their cameras turned on during their Microsoft Teams meetings; if a student is not visible, they will be asked to turn on their camera for the remainder of the instructional day.

Students in one or more college classes are reminded to look for GTCC announcements regarding college classes.

    Thank you and stay safe.

  • Good evening, parents. This is principal Rodney L. Boone with an important message. As you may have heard, some high school bus routes have been temporarily suspended starting Monday morning  in light of a severe school bus driver shortage. This call is to let you know that our school is NOT one of those affected by that change. Students here will continue to receive school bus transportation. Students are requested to be at bus stops and wait until the bus arrives with the understanding that there could still be delayed pick-ups and drop-offs.  However, our school day schedule will be normal (11 am – 5:15 pm).  Please use the ‘Here Comes The Bus’ App to locate the bus as needed.  If you experience any issues, please contact the GCS transportation call center will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Families will be able to reach the call center by dialing 888-511-4GCS (not the school). That’s 888-511-4GCS, or 4427.

Parents of those who are affected will receive a separate notification and instructions.

We look forward to seeing your child at school on Monday morning.

Thank you, enjoy your day, and stay safe!

  • Jan. 6, 2022 – Due to bus driver shortages in light of the surge in COVID-19 cases across our community, GCS will modify school schedules for tomorrow, Friday, January 7th.

Elementary schools will start on time, but some buses will be late. GCS advises all parents to check the Here Comes the Bus app for the most up to date information.

Elementary magnet schools, including Johnson St and Allen Jay Prep, will remain on the elementary schedule and will run on time.

Middle schools will start an hour late on Friday.

High schools and early/middle colleges will start an hour and half late on Friday.  However, buildings will be open, and teachers will be on site.  Parents can drop off students at the normal time and walkers can arrive at the normal time if they choose.

Middle and High school magnet schools and Early/Middle Colleges follow the hour and a half delay.

The district will continue to work diligently over the weekend to come up with a plan for what next week will look like given the surge in Coronavirus and increased bus driver shortages.
