GREETINGS!

Welcome to 6th grade English Language Arts with Ms. Maness!  I look forward to working with you and your families this school year.

Course Description 

In this class we will do tons of reading and writing!!!  Be on the lookout for loads of laughing, too!

Specifically, we wil llearn key ELA concepts like:

• Central Idea
• Text Evidence
• Text Structures
• Argumentative Texts
• Theme
• Plot Development
• Elements of Poetry
• Words Meanings 

I will adhere to and follow the North Carolina Department of Instruction's Standard Course of Study which allows me to teach high-level standards and meta-cognitive thinking practices.

Feedback and conversation about work samples will take place, as well.

Student Expectations 

Like always, students will be expected to turn in assignments by designated due dates.  With that said, grace and consideration will be given when technological or family issues arise.   Keeping the lines of communication open and clear is key!
