• Digital Citizenship at School and at Home

Becoming a 1:1 school district brought to the forefront the need to focus on digital citizenship across the curriculum and in partnerships with families. Students today are using technology - including social media - more than ever. In fact, technology use by students for school work has more than doubled since 2015! As a community (school staff, students and caregivers), it is important to develop a greater awareness of the ways technology impacts our daily lives and how we can manage it to maintain a healthy balance.

Here at school, students are required to participate in the Responsible Use of GCS Device Canvas course designed around lessons from Common Sense Media. In addition, we are committed to family outreach and opening up discussions with families about how to manage technology use in the home. See below for the Family Media agreement that you can use to facilitate conversations about digital citizenship and media use at home.

Throughout the year, digital citizenship and digital safety lessons are accessible through the GCS is CyberSafe app in Clever.
