Accountability & Research Departments
Accountability, Research, & Evaluation
- Coordinates and manages state and federal accountability programs in GCS. Interpret legislation, policies and guidelines governing accountability programs; ensure that information about accountability programs is communicated to school and district personnel; and manage data collections.
- Interprets, analyzes and reports data from various sources; responds to requests for data and reports; and provides consultation and technical assistance to school personnel, district administration, and others.
- Responsible for program evaluations in the district.
- Assists with the design and implementation of surveys and other data collection instruments in the district.
- Collaborates with internal and external researchers to review research projects for approval and monitors study activities within GCS.
Data Analytics

Works with school and district leaders to interpret various data sources to improve student achievement and analyze/display data in meaningful ways.

Assists with district data needs and analysis including data focused on student learning, assessment, student health/wellness, and operational indicators.

Manages the district's data dashboards in coordination with the Student Information department.
- Trains and provides other support to district staff around using and interpreting data.
Local Testing
- Designs and composes formative assessments (Interims) and final exams for specific high school courses.
- Analyzes formative assessment data.
- Supports assessment administration of NWEA MAP, Interim Assessments, and GCS Final Exams using NWEA and Performance Matters online platforms,
- Supports access and analysis of NWEA, Performance Matters, and GCS-created assessment data.
- Monitors and supports use of district formative assessment data.
State Testing
- Implements the North Carolina Testing Program; Involving the training, supervising, and monitoring of staff assigned to state testing programs.
- Ensures that Guilford County Schools' employees understand and follow the Testing Code of Ethics, which requires that the district adheres to all state requirements for uniformity in test administrations.
- Provides technical assistance on state test administrations.
- Prepares and provides materials for presentations to district leaders and other community stakeholders regarding the state's testing program
Student Information
- Oversee and maintains the statewide student information system, PowerSchool.
- Provides training to school based staff in the use of PowerSchool.
- Provides training to school based teachers in the use of PowerTeacher Pro.
- Creating and maintaining the student information data warehouse.
- Create and publish student information based data dashboards.
- Provides requested data to district staff as needed.
- Provides technical support to district and school staff in the use of PowerSchool, GCS Data Console and NCEdCloud.
