David D. Jones Elementary is more than a school; it's a community built on values of equity, unity and respect. We are deeply saddened by this health crisis that still keeps many of us from our building. We miss our teachers, the staff and our friends; we worry about them too. We also worry how remote learning, false starts, teacher retirements and Mr. Luciano's temporary leave will impact our children's education and their futures.
What we know for sure is that the Jones community extends well beyond the building's walls. Teachers are taking lessons straight to children in their kitchens and living rooms. The staff is connecting families to services and technology while preparing for a potential start to in-person instruction. And parents are finding connection and support online and in socially distanced conversations. There is no way to adequately describe all that the Jones team and Jones families are doing right now.
The PTA is committed to finding more community connection points, but we need your help. Every day our students learn to face challenges with curiosity, critical thinking and imagination. It's our turn to do the same. Join the Jones PTA. Let's do this together.
Need a reminder of community? Take a walk along the Downtown Greenway in Historic Warnersville, home to our beloved school. Rest on the benches that line the walk and absorb the words burned into the wood: endurance, triumph, faith, strength and hope. Those values remain in this school community.
