4th Grade Teacher, Lifelong Learner
Motto: "Aspire Higher"
Welcome to Mrs. Jones' Web Page!I have been a teacher for the Guilford County School System, going into my 19th year this year. I've celebrated over 16 years of marriage & am a mother of 2 boys. I'm the 1999-2000 GCS' Rookie Teacher of the Year Recipient in the area of Science, out of 450 possible candidates. In addition, I have had the honor of being named McLeansville Elementary's Teacher of the Year during my 10th year of teaching. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade, & have had multiple experiences with looping with classes as well. My experience with helping children learn, ranges from kindergarten to the college level.
Other fun facts... I was awarded a 5 Years of Excellence Service Awards through Mission Possible, for Outstanding Service in 2015, for Dedication & Commitment to Teacher Leadership for serving as a Mission Possible Teacher Leader for all 5+ years of the Federal Grant. You can find me working behind the scenes at the school, district, and state level. For the I took part in NC's two Teach Meets in GCS as a presenter & was able to share innovative ideas from the classroom at the county level and for educators across the state!!!
Throughout my career; through hard work, goal setting, and determination, I try to serve as a role model to students that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. This past spring of 2017, I was awarded as one of UNCG's Distinguished Service Award Recipients through my work as a STEM Teacher Leader Fellow and for the many years of service as an On-Site Teacher Educator for interns/student teachers. I also am certified as a Mentor Teacher. This year I have been recognized as one of GCS/Elon's AIG Scholarship Recipients to continue my journey as a Life-Long Learner at the Graduate level. I am currently working on requirements to obtain an AIG add-on as well as an M.Ed. It is quite an honor to work behind the scenes to meet the vision we have set for our school. I believe teaching is a passion and a gift for me to have the job that I do, each and every day.
