Mrs. Salas First Grade Class,
Greetings! First Grade families and friends! My name is Elaine Salas and I am very excited to be your child's first grade teacher this year. This year will be my 31st year of teaching . I have a Bachelor's degree in Education from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts and a Master's Degree in Education from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. I spent most of my career teaching in Fairfax, as a classroom teacher and a social studies/science resource teacher for K-3 before moving to North Carolina. This is my 14th year in North Carolina and my 10th year teaching at Jefferson Elementary. I became a teacher because I am passionate about young children learning in a way that promotes their self-esteem and willingness to do their best. As a mother of two sons ages 13 and 10, I fully understand the concerns parents have for their children to be happy, well-adjusted and in a wonderful learning environment. My philosophy has always been to provide my students with the same love, care, respect and attention that I want my own sons to receive. I look forward to working with you cooperatively to achieve this goal.
