Parents, students and other community members are invited to give their input about the role and direction of the district’s magnet programs at two public forums next week.
The community forums, hosted by the Magnet Schools of America Review Team are:
- 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20, in the GCS Board Room at 712 N. Eugene St., Greensboro
- 6-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22, in the GCS Board Room at 900 West English Road, High Point.
If individuals are unable to attend the forum, a short online survey is also available here.
Guilford County Schools offers 54 different magnet programs in 45 schools across the district. These programs are options for families who are drawn to a specific theme, a unique instructional style or a different learning environment. Themes, such as the arts, technology or global studies may feed student interest or students may respond best in a small community or through hands-on, exploratory learning.
The district seeks the public’s input on all of its elementary, middle and high school options, as well as how the choice program functions overall. A team from Magnet Schools of America will visit and review each magnet program in the district the week of Feb. 19-23.
