  • SECU Scholarship- The State Employees Credit Union (SECU) People Helping People scholarship is valued at $10,000 and awarded over (up to) eight consecutive semesters to pay for tuition and fees. It's available to graduating public high school seniors who are either current members of SECU or the child of a parent/ guardian who is a member of SECU at the time of application and plan on attending one of the 16 UNC System Universities as well as additional requirements. If you're interested, see flyer and documents below and let Ms. McElrath know ASAP!

  • Greetings Gators!   

    As you are aware, exams begin tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 5th).  As such, the EMC will follow a modified schedule to allow for testing.  Please arrive at school in time to check in (if testing), pick up lunch, and report to your assigned room by 11 am.  Please review announcements posted each day for 1st block student locations for 9-12th graders.  Bring your laptop (charged), charger, and headphones to school each day.   

    Schedule for 12/5 

    2nd Block   11:00-2:00  (House 11-12:30 in 2nd Block location)

    3rd Block   2:05-3:35

    4th Block    3:40-5:15

    Schedule for 12/6 thru 12/13 

    House              11:00- 2:00

    2nd Block         2:05-3:35

    3rd Block          3:10 - 4:10

    4th Block          4:15-5:15

    Students need to attend college classes/exams as normally scheduled.  Please communicate directly with high school teachers about any college class conflicts.  For college seminar - please communicate directly with your seminar teacher if there is a conflict with this schedule adjustment.

  • Important Fall 2023 Exam Weeks Information

     

    The last day for students to attend College Seminar meetings is Monday, December 4. Your Final Seminar Log is due Monday, December 4 by 11:59 PM.  

     There will be NO NEW instruction or assignments for HOUSE OR ACADEMY after Monday, December 4.   

     

    Be advised that school is still in session and attendance will be taken in all classes every day through Tuesday, Dec. 19.   However, no new instruction or assignments will take place after the final exam is given for a course.  

     

    As a result, students will be marked either PRESENT or ABSENT, each day; however, there is NO PENALTY (ex. no additional make-up time) for students who have completed all their exams for absences after the final exam in a course.  

     

    Be advised: Make-up time for all courses must be completed no later than Friday, December 8. Please see your teachers to schedule your make-up time immediately. 

     

    Parents: students should NOT be picked up early OR make requests to leave early during our exam period. Students are expected to report to ALL classes every day in order to review and prepare for any remaining classes they have a final exam or EOC.

  • Attention all graduating students!  The 2023 State Employee's Credit Union (SECU) People Helping People $10,000 Scholarship applications are now available.  This is an amazing scholarship opportunity for eligible students.  You must submit all required materials to Jennifer Kijania by the deadline of 5:15pm 2/17/23 for consideration as our school nominee.  Full information, directions, and documents are linked in the Scholarships with Deadlines February 2023 Module in the 12th and 13th Grade Canvas courses.  Contact Jennifer Kijania for questions and assistance!

  • Attention all 10th & 11th grade students – check out the NC Governor’s School 2023 information here.  GCS Parent Academy Information sessions are being held on Tuesday 10/11 and Tuesday 10/21 at 6pm.  Early/Middle College at GTCC Greensboro student applications are due to Jennifer Kijania by Friday 11/4/22.

    As it relates to athletic events, starting on Friday, Sept. 23, purses, backpacks and other traditional bags will not be allowed at sporting events on our campus.    

     

    Acceptable bags must be made of clear plastic or vinyl, including gallon-sized or smaller zip storage bags. Small clutch bags, diaper bags and bags used for medical supplies will be allowed but will be subject to inspection.
