CLASS PROCEDURE :
- Bring all necessary materials to class – be prepared for class!
- Sign the Tardy Log if you come in after the bell.
- Start opening task immediately and do your work independently. No talking or collaborating during board work!
- Try to sharpen your pencils in the first five minutes of class.
- Pay attention to my instructions; there should be NO talking when I am talking to the class. Follow directions.
- Keep all of your materials in or on your desk or under your chair. Keep walkways clear.
- Raise your hand to speak, to ask a question, or to get out of your seat.
- Use soft voices when working in pairs or groups.
- At the signal, give me your attention immediately.
- Show respect to your classmates, to the materials in class, and to me or any other adult in the classroom at all times.
- When you are dismissed, be sure you have everything & straighten your desk.
GRADING SYSTEM:
- All assignments have a point value of 100; major projects will “count twice”.
- Grades are weighted by the type of assignment and averaged by a computer program; you cannot average your grades normally on your own and come up with the correct average.
- Late work will have 30 points automatically deducted and will only be accepted three days late in the first quarter, two days in the 2nd quarter, and one day in the 3rd Late work will not be accepted in the 4th quarter. This does not apply to work missed due to absence.
- You must make up ALL work missed when you are absent for any reason. It is YOUR responsibility to find out what you missed. One day will be added to the due date of each assignment for every day you were absent. If you are absent on the day of a test, plan to take the test on the day you return. If you are absent for more than one day, I strongly recommend that you ask a parent to pick up work for you – they will need to call the office and give us at least four hours notice.
- There will be some opportunities for bonus points or extra credit, but they will be class-wide, not individual. There is NO extra credit for bringing up low grades or making up zeroes.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS:
- Write neatly on all work. If I cannot read your handwriting, I will probably return the assignment to you to be written over.
- Remember that spelling always counts. You should have a dictionary at home.
- Use a proper heading on all assignments.
- Use pencil or blue/black ink ONLY. No markers, colored pencils, gel pens, or any color ink other than blue & black is allowed on classwork or homework.
- DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
- Turn in assignments on time. Make up missed work promptly.
- Keep your binder neat and organized. Put all Language Arts work in the proper section.
- Participate in class discussions and group activities. Ask good questions!
- Pay attention. You never know when I might say something interesting.
