Degrees and Certifications:

Dr. Janiese McKenzie

Greetings Nighthawk Nation! I am thrilled to start my thirteenth year at Northern Guilford High School and my twenty-second year in Guilford County Schools. I am a 1994 graduate of Western Guilford High School and attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where I played basketball and majored in Biological Science. I began my teaching career in Pahokee, Florida at The Shepherd's School then returned to Western Guilford and stayed for eight years as a teacher and coach. When Northern opened, I relished the opportunity to be a part of a unique event in the opening of a new school, Guilford County's first in over 20 years. My administrative career began in 2012 after being accepted in the Piedmont Triad Leadership Academy (PTLA), a program for the development of future school leaders. I earned my Masters in School Administration at UNCG after completing my administrative internship at Mendenhall Middle School and here, at Northern Guilford High School. I recently completed my EdS certificate (Educational Specialist Certification) through Appalachian State University. I am currently enrolled in the Doctorate in Educational Leadership program at Liberty University.
My passion for education is rooted in the hope that all students will find their niche and begin a journey for life long success. It is my desire that all students are successful in student life which includes academics, clubs, organizations, performing or visual arts and/or athletics.  Student involvement is a large indicator of student achievement and sense of well-being.  After four years at Northern Guilford High, students will graduate with a career plan, an apprenticeship, a military appointment, or a college acceptance letter.
