In conjunction with the GCS Summer Ignite program, we are excited to offer the Summer Arts Institute (SAI) for Guilford County students in 2019.  SAI is a program to advance student growth in all arts disciplines. We maintain high achievement through intensive rehearsals and work schedules in preparation for performances and gallery walks.

    6 Strings and 88 Keys (Grades 5-9)       8AM-12PM or 1PM-5PM    July 8-12

    Location: WEAVER ACADEMY

Students have the opportunity to begin their study on piano or guitar. While enrolled at 6 Strings and 88 Keys, students will prepare for a performance and learn or enhance skills on their instrument choice. In addition, there will be opportunities to listen to great performances and learn about music theory and history as it pertains to their instruments.  This particular camp is great for jump-starting students into private lessons.

Elementary Arts Exploration (Grades 2-4)     9AM-1PM     July 8-12

    Location: TBA

Students will be immersed in visual art, theatre, dance, and music classes. Students will have the opportunity to learn aspects of each arts area by rotating daily through several different music, art, dance and theatre classes.

    Arts Immersion (Grades 5-8)      9AM-3PM      July 15-19

    Location: TBA

Students will have the opportunity to major in chorus, theatre, visual arts or dance. Students will also declare a minor in one of the programs to further enrich their arts experience for the week. We encourage students to try new curriculums – especially if they have attended the immersion week in the past. The programs are designed for students who have little to no experience, but who have shown great talent with their classroom arts teachers. There will not be a formal concert, but rather an “informance” and gallery walk the last afternoon.
