First Generation College Student Ambassador Program (FGCSA)
FGCSA aims to provide intentional, holistic, and hands-on experiences grounded in areas of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to participants that prepare them for the transition to higher education after graduation. These experiences include college tours, ACT/SAT prep, financial aid workshops, and more. The FGCSA Program follows the NASPA Center for First-Generation Student Success definition of a first-generation student, being that “neither parent/guardian have completed or received a 4-year degree (or equivalent)” The First-Generation College Student Ambassador (FGCSA) Program is a college access initiative that is housed in the Guilford County Schools (GCS) Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The program is a contracted partnership with SHIFT_ED (formerly known as Say Yes Guilford). The program has a maximum capacity of 50 juniors and 50 seniors in GCS.
