Hi KMS Students! 

I am Mrs. McKinney and I have been at KMS since 2007,  teaching CTE Business Skills.  

I enjoy teaching students how to type, use MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and understand the world of Business!

I am also the KMS Yearbook advisor, where I love taking fun pictures of all the wonderful students, staff, and amazing activities around our school.

I hope to see you in class this year!

    Kernodle Middle School Business Classes!

    6th Grade: Computer Skills and Applications (Keyboarding & Basic Word Processing)

    7th Grade: Introduction to Office Productivity

    8th Grade: Exploring Business and Entrepreneurship

    Make Sure You Log into PowerSchool (NCEdCloud) and click on the Canvas Icon for your Class Assignments Daily! 

    Parents/Guardians - Sign Up to be an Observer for your Student in our Canvas Classes - see details below.  Or have your student log into their NCedCloud Account - click on Canvas and share our information with you.

    We will cover this form in class on the first day.

    Students will have a Microsoft Form to fill out (along with parental help) afterward and/or a printed copy will be sent home. 

    Links for the form will be posted in Canvas and students shown how to access them during our class period. 

    Parents/Guardians make sure to review the form with your student. 

  • Supplies Needed for Class:

    one – 2-pocket folder to organize your work (may stay in class)

    Pencils / Pens – (No RED Pens and NO Mechanical Pencils if possible) 

    Student Planners should be with you DAILY!

     

     

    Optional Items:

    *Personal Headphones you can use in class instead of the class headphones. 

    No Bluetooth – only plug and play headphones

    *Flash drive to backup / save your work on (at least an 8GB is recommended but not required; we use OneDrive)

     

     

     Classroom Wish List Items:

    *Disinfecting Spray and/or Wipes / Tissues / Hand Sanitizer / Band-Aids

    Our Class is always in need of the items mentioned above. 

    Wish List Items are always appreciated.

     

    Guilford County Grading Scale

    A = 90-100

    B = 80-89

    C = 70-79

    D = 60-69

    F = 0-59

     

    Class Weights (for Mrs. McKinney's Class Only):

    Classwork (completed weekly) 40% of the total grade.

    Projects (completed 1 to 2 per module covered) 40% of total grade.

    Assessments i.e. test/quiz (completed 1 per module) 20% of total grade.

    You Have 7 School Days from the Due Date of Assignments Placed In Canvas/PowerSchool to Complete - Missing or Late Work will be labeled in PowerSchool and Teacher Comments posted in Canvas- after 7 School Days the Assignment is Closed and Your Grade is a Zero!
