Ms. Dorice Isaac

Welcome to Ms. Isaac's page!  Let me tell you a little about me ...

The current 2019-20 school year marks the beginning of my 24th year as a school counselor at SE Middle School!  For 2019-20, I am assigned to all of 7th grade and also 8th graders with last names A-J.  Yep, I move it on up with them until they "graduate" to high school, then I roll back down again to 6th.  Some people think I'm crazy to say this, but I thoroughly enjoy working with middle schoolers ... the age group suits me well!!   I enjoy spending time with your children ... teaching them new things, introducing them to eye-opening experiences and growing their potential.  I have made effort to create lessons and activities that are more experiential to maximize remembrance, affect & relevance in my mission to get them college & career ready as they enter their next stages of life.  I have spent much time teaching things such as decision-making skills, financial literacy, desirable career skills & important character traits & "soft-skills", such as responsibility, kindness & empathy.  This year even more social-emotional learning will be integrated into lessons. I am excited to get back in and work with them hands-on & would love your support, as well, reinforcing concepts at home.

Outside of being a counselor, I am also:

Advisor for the S.M.A.R.T. Committee (character ed/substance abuse awareness) ... Girls' head track coach (tryouts in mid-February; get your physical) ... EF Tours Group Coordinator for Student International Education Travel opportunities (open to middle & high school students) ... SE Leadership Team Committee member ... Duke TIP/PSAT coordinator ... Virtual Learning contact ... and a host of other duties & responsibilities!

On a personal note, I grew up in High Point, NC and graduated from T.W. Andrews (High Point).  I went on to receive a B.S. in Business Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill before receiving my M.S. in Counseling & Educational Development from UNC-Greensboro.  I am the 3rd child in my family of 2 brothers and 1 sister.  I have 4 nephews from ages 14-20 who I absolutely ADORE... and at least 8 more "adopted" nephews ... as I speak about "my boys" all the time!!!

I have a passion for TRAVEL... ask me about my many adventures!  Personal travels have taken me up & down the East Coast, some West Coast, many tropical destinations, Central & South America, and a few trips to Europe ... fascinating to me!  And I have traveled with many of your children as I have come to be known as the "field trip lady" over the past 23 years!  My student travels have taken me in-state (hello, NC!), out-of-state (from NY to FL), and have coordinated with EF Tours international student educational travel which includes Costa Rica (2018), Italy & Greece (2019), Eastern Europe (2020) & potentially South Africa 2021.  Stay tuned for more info on that one ... and hopefully more to come!  Maybe you'll be with me next time!!!  To request more information on Student Travel click here --> Tell Me More!  or email me at disaacadventures@aol.com.

I really enjoy PHOTOGRAPHY ... my camera is a regular site around school and at many sporting events!  The kids love to see themselves on "film", and I love practicing my skills.  I also love ADVENTURE ... many things I do and places I've been, there is usually a story behind it :) ... as I like to be on the go-go-go.  Other things I enjoy are spending time with my family & friends, reading, watching movies, creating things on my computer ... and looking for what what I can get into next!

Learning can be fun, and there is always something to learn each day.  I learn from your children as much as they learn from me...so we are on this journey together.

Feel free to contact me as you need to!
