Degrees and Certifications:
Dr. Angela Monell
Hello to my Southwest Family!!
I am the PROUD principal of THE Southwest Guilford High School!! I have served the Ranch for five years as the 10th grade Assistant Principal and it is my absolute pleasure to now serve in the role as Principal!
I am originally from Prince George's County, Maryland, moved to Charlotte, and have safely landed in Winston-Salem with my 3 guys!. I have been in education for over 20 years...I think that is accurate........and I still LOVE what I do.
I attended Towson State University where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications and a Minor in Communication Studies. I obtained my Master's Degree in Special Education, a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction, and finally my Administrative Certification at NC A&T University.
Now that I am retired from going to school (I should be...), I spend my free time at NCA&T on the weekends (AGGIE pride) watching my oldest son Julian play football and watching my youngest son Jaxon finish out his Senior year as a scholar-athlete. I also tend to hang out with my husband, the other Dr. Monell, in my spare time as we tend to be foodies!
My hobbies are reading, baking and exercising. I have to counter the baking somehow!
My goal and vision are to ensure that all students have a place and sense of belonging at Southwest. I believe deeply in equitable practices and ensuring that all students have access and opportunities to reach their highest potential. I will continue to come to Southwest every day with a zest for my students and create space to hear their voices. We will continue with the work that we have done over the years and use our data to move our students, faculty, and staff to the next level.
As always remember,
We've got this and I've got you because this is where we belong.
