  • My name is April N. Dunovant and welcome to my fabulous page. I absolutely love teaching and it is illustrated in my classrooms on a daily basis. A little bit about myself: I was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC to two loving parents, Judy W. Dunovant and Donald H. Lewis (now deceased). I attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University for undergraduate and graduate studies. My undergraduate degree is in Secondary History Education and my graduate degree is in Adult Education w/concentration in Community College Teaching. I fell in love with History in 8th with the guidance of my awesome Social Studies Teacher Mr. Whitmere at Paisley Middle School. My love of History has blossomed since the first day I took an interest in the subject.  History serves a vital purpose in our everyday lives and my teaching aesthetic adheres to my belief that History is important. History is important to gain knowledge, inspire others, and to avoid past mistakes. I teach Social Studies through creative projects, critical thinking reading, field trips, and personal experiences. Therefore, “work” is actually a creative project that I consistently work on to improve on a daily basis. Welcome to my page students and parents and please email me at dunovaa@gcsnc.com for any questions or concerns.

    Warmest Regards
