Periodically, the Board of Education will post policy updates and naming nominations for public comment to receive input from members of the community. Items that are currently open for comment are posted on this page with instructions on how to provide your feedback. The Board of Education values your opinion and appreciates your feedback on these items.
October 19, 2021 – As part of its ongoing process in conjunction with the North Carolina School Boards Association to review and update all policies, the Board of Education is seeking public feedback on the following policy revisions:
- 1320/3560 – Title I Parent and Family Engagement – This policy directs the district to continue engaging parents and family members with meaningful opportunities to become involved in programs.
- 4040/7310 – Staff-Student Relations – This policy reiterates the expectation that all employees maintain the highest professional, moral and ethical standards in their interactions with students.
- 4125 – Homeless Students – This policy ensures the district is complying with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and the North Carolina State Plan for Educating Homeless Children.
- 7410 – Teacher Contracts – This policy recognizes the importance of establishing a clear contractual relationship with teachers employed by the district and ensures all contracts meet requirements of state law.
