NBCT M.Ed. B.A.

Mrs. Vaughn

I have been teaching 8thgrade mathematics since 2006; all 17 academic years have been at NWGMS in the 8th grade. I can't believe this is already my 18th year!

I attended St. Olaf College in Northfield MN, 1980-81, and Luther College in Decorah IA, 1981-1984. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Mathematics and Economics, from Luther College. In 2006 I graduated from UNCG with a Masters of Education with a concentration in Middle Grades Math. I am a National Board Certified Teacher of adolescent mathematics.

When I was in middle school, I attended the public school in Delphos, Ohio. I was in band and choir. I hated school until I was in graduate school. I thought teachers were my enemy. I NEVER want a student to feel the way I did and I will do everything I can to make your middle school experience positive and productive.

Where I came from:   I moved to Greensboro in 1996. My husband is from Westfield NC and we relocated here from Akron Ohio due to a job change.

My family: I have been married to my husband Eddie, since 1987. I have two children. Austin is 33 and lives in Austin Texas and is a professional musician. My daughter, Kari, is 29 and lives in Brooklynn NY. She is an actuary. We have a big hairy dog, mostly black lab, named Charlie, who is about 15.

Good to know... I love Milk Duds and Heath bars. Water is my drink of choice. On snow days and in the summer I enjoy felting, sewing and creating things.

You know what? Several years ago some students noticed I bore a resemblance to Edna Mode from the Incredibles movies so I’ve come to embrace her.
