WORKKEYS OVERVIEW
What is WorkKeys (Links to an external site.) and how will it work for me?
What is The National Career Readiness Certificate (Links to an external site.) (CRC?)
What are the requirements to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate?
A National Career Readiness Certificate is earned by completing the three WorkKeys Assessments:
- The Applied Math (Links to an external site.) assessment measures critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and problem solving techniques for situations that actually occur in today’s workplace. While individuals may use calculators and conversion tables to help with the problems on the assessment, math skills are still needed to think them through.
- Workplace Graphics (Links to an external site.) come in a variety of formats, but all communicate a level of information. From charts to graphs, diagrams to floor plans, identifying what information is being presented and understanding how to use it are critical to success. The Graphic Literacy assessment measures the skill needed to locate, synthesize, and use information from workplace graphics
- Employees need to be able to understand written text to do a job. The Workplace Documents (Links to an external site.) assessment measures the skills people use when they read and use written text such as memos, letters, directions, signs, notices, bulletins, policies, and regulations on the job
PREPARING FOR MY WORKKEYS ASSSESSMENT
The WorkKeys system consists of job analysis (finding out which skills are needed on the job), assessments (the
tests you’ll be taking plus several others), reporting (telling you how your skills match job requirements), and
instructional support (guidance to educators related to improving students’ skill levels).WorkKeys measures skills that employers believe are critical to job success—skills such as reading, math,
listening, locating information, and teamwork. These skills are valuable for any type of occupation—skilled or
professional—and at any level of education. Please use this WorkKeys Assessment Download WorkKeys Assessmentlink for more detailed information about the assessment and sample test questions.
