Boys volleyball tryouts will begin Monday, October 7th. You must have a completed physical and concussion form to tryout. Be a part of the fastest growing and most exciting sport of volleyball. We play bump, set, Crush volleyball. The team has positive attitudes, gives maximum effort, hustles, hits and doesn't quit, are good teammates and leaders in the classroom and on the volleyball court. We would like to thank all of the young ladies who gave their all at today's final volleyball tryout. Each  of you impressed the coach's with your hustle, determiniation, enthusiasm, positive attitudes, and skills. It was an extremely difficult task to pick this year's Lady Nighthawk volleyball team. The scores and tally sheets were extremely close. We were proud of your effort and you should be to. I wish that we could have kept three teams. There was enough talent to have three really good teams. If your name isn't on the list please continue playing the great game of volleyball. There are many places to play volleyball including the YMCA, Piedmont, Spikeforce, and Beach South. Each of you have much God-given potential on the volleyball court and in the classroom. Due to anticipated bad/hazardous weather from Hurricane Debby all Guilford County Schools are closed tomorrow Thursday, August 8th. All district school activities, band/athletic practices have been cancelled. We are disappointed that we won't be able to have Volleyball Open Gym on Thursday but look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, August 12th at 4:00 pm. Coach Kaney and I would like to thank all the NGMS student participants in the NGMS Volleyball Open Gyms. The enthusiasm, hustle, positivity, comradery and  participants having fun have been great to watch. Keep up the great work! 

We are excited to announce four upcoming open gym dates. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to come out to play, learn the great game of volleyball, develop interpersonal relationships, improve skills and have fun. These are open to all student/athletes who are interested in trying out for NGMS volleyball this upcoming season and will be held in the main gymnasium at Northern Guilford Middle School. We welcome all skill levels and look forward to seeing you there! After the last session on August 12 we will be holding a short tryout interest meeting and parents are welcome to attend. During the volleyball interest meeting, we will be sharing helpful info and we will be answering questions about the upcoming tryouts and season (Girls tryouts are scheduled for August 27,28th and 29th from 3:45-5:30 p.m.) The following are the dates and times for the volleyball open gyms: 

August 6th- 3:30-5:00 pm

August 7th- 3:30-5:00 pm 

August 8th- 3:30-5:00 p.m.

August 12th 4:00-5:00 followed by an interest meeting at 5:00-5:10 pm

Volleyball is Life!

Tryouts for Lady Nighthawk Volleyball will begin on Tuesday, August 30th-Thursday, September 1st from 3:45-5:15. Before you can tryout you will need submit your physical form and all athletic forms. These forms can be assessed on the NGMS Athletic website.

At Northern Guilford Middle School we honor ourselves, the other team and the great game of volleyball. We strive to be the best we are capable of becoming as young men and ladies on and off the volleyball court. We work hard, play hard, play together, play smart, play bump, set, spike volleyball, play as a team, have great attitudes, never quit, always strive to improve, show good sportsmanship, win gratefully and lose graciously, persevere, have can-do and positive attitudes and outlooks in life, are disciplined, display class, enjoy the journey and have fun!
