Battle of the Books (also known as BOB) is a multi-grade team of readers that is given a list of 22 books. The team reads those books and then competes against other middle schools to see who can correctly answer the most questions about those books.

The purpose of BOB is to encourage reading and to increase students’ knowledge and appreciation of literature while competing on a team.

Battle of the Books starts at the beginning of the school year until the competition in the spring. They meet to discuss each book and practice for the competition during school and sometimes after school. The Guilford County competition is usually held in the first week of March at UNCG. The team that comes in first place gets to move on to Regionals. The BOB coach is the Media Specialist, Mrs. Zamboni.
