Bank of America Student Leaders Program: High school juniors and seniors are awarded paid summer internships with local nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity and Boys and Girls Clubs of America and participate in a national leadership summit in Washington, D.C.

Broyhill Leadership Conference:  The Broyhill Leadership Conference is open to rising 10th-12th graders and current year high school graduates. Delegates must be at least 15 years old by June 1st. BLC makes a real impact on our delegates. While 30% of students who begin college drop out by the end of their freshman year, BLC can equip young people to overcome those odds.  Delegates acquire key skills in: Setting goals/Making positive life choices/Working within a team/Communicating effectively & Handling obstacles and adversity.  

Camp Carefree: Serve as a Counselor in Training (CIT) and help make memories for a lifetime for kids who are diagnosed with chronic illnesses.  Click here to apply. 

Camp Kesem: Camp Kesem operates free summer camps for children who have been impacted by a parent's cancer. Click here to apply. 

Camp Neuro and Camp Cardiac at Wake Forest University School of Medicine: Run by medical students, this is a one-week summer day camp for students 15 years and older who are interested in exploring careers in medicine.  Scholarships available.  

Clemson C-CATS: Spend the weekend exploring Clemson University and building friendships with other top-performing students.  Open to students in the top 10% of their class. 

Clemson University Summer Scholars Program:  Weeklong, on-campus, residential experience that allows academically minded learners: to participate in challenging academic courses on a specific topic or area of interest; to learn alongside university faculty and professional experts in university laboratories; to preview college life by living in a dorm, eating in university dining halls and enjoying campus facilities; to learn about college admissions and financial assistance; and to make lifelong friends. Duke University Summer Academy for High School Students: A 3-week non-credit summer program for students currently in grades 9-12.

Cone Health Teen Volunteer Program: Get hands-on experience in a hospital setting while experiencing the personal satisfaction of helping others. Opportunities available at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital, and MedCenter High Point.   Must be at least 15 years of age by June 1. Must actively participate one day each week for all 4 weeks of the program.   Must have a B average in high school (GPA=3.0+).  Must attend a mandatory information session and orientation session, complete an application including a 100 word essay, provide a copy of immunizations, a current report card, and a picture (snapshot or driver's license).  Click here to apply.

Duke University Summer College for High School Students: A 4-week credit bearing summer program for current 10^th/11^th graders.

Duke Youth Programs: Duke Youth Programs provides summer enrichment opportunities for academically motivated middle and high school students specific areas.  

Greensboro Children’s Museum Volunteer:  Are you ready to play?  Greensboro Children’s Museum seeks high school volunteers who are enthusiastic about community involvement, have a passion for working with children and their families in a non-traditional environment, enjoy engaging and hands-on experiences, and are responsible, punctual, flexible individuals who follow through with their commitments; must attend a mandatory volunteer orientation prior to starting volunteer shifts.  Click here to volunteer.

Greensboro Parks and Recreation Counselor in Training Program: For high school students who are 15 and older as of June 1^st and are high energy and enjoy work with children.  This service learning program allows students to serve as junior counselors at one of 10 Community Recreation Centers or 2 specialty summer camps. 

Greensboro Science Center Summer Teen Volunteer Program 

High Point Medical Center P.A.T.H. (Promoting the Advancement of Teens in Healthcare):  Interested in a healthcare profession? Learn what it takes and get real world experience.  Must be 14 years of age by June 1. Must commit to volunteering for the full 6 weeks. Investigative Journalism Program at Boston University: A once-in-a-lifetime experience for high school students interested in journalism, communications or writing.  

July Experience at Davidson College: A powerful pre-college summer academic program for rising high school juniors and seniors who are highly motivated, academically oriented, and self-disciplined.

Martha Guy Summer Institute for Future Business Leaders: at Appalachian State University Program dates: July 19 - August 1, 2020
MGSI offers a unique opportunity for current high school juniors to gain an immeasurable amount of business knowledge and experience. This year we are seeking 24 students to participate in the 17th cohort that will include two weeks of classroom instruction, an entrepreneurial project, professional/leadership development,and regional travel and/or interaction with business professionals. National Youth Leadership Forum: Medicine: Held in nine cities across the country, this extraordinary program is reserved for motivated 9^th-12^th grade students with demonstrated leadership skills and an interest in medicine; students take part in an intensive examination of state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and future medical specialties; limited number of partial scholarships available based upon financial need, scholastic merit, leadership achievement, and other factors.  School nomination required.

NC American Legion Student Trooper Program: A week-long program conducted at the NC Highway Patrol training Center in Raleigh, cadets learn the use of police skills, drug detection, firearms safety, and precision driving, to name a few; includes rigorous physical training.

NC Governor's Page Program: A one week experience that offers students an in-depth view of state government. Pages are assigned to assist staff in the Governor’s Office. Pages tour multiple government buildings and historic sites during their stay including the Legislative Building, the State Capitol, the Executive Mansion, and the North Carolina Museum of History. Pages have the opportunity to meet with government officials, discuss how state government works, and how it impacts the lives of North Carolinians.

NC State Ag-Discovery Camp: A 2-week residential program offering hands-on laboratory experiences, workshops, and field trips for students ages 15-17 years old interested in careers in plant science.

NC Zoo Veterinary and Wild Animal Science Camps: So you want to work with animals. These action packed camps offers training in basic veterinarian procedures and engages campers win working with wild life. 

Princeton University Summer Journalism Program: All-expense paid (including travel costs) summer program for rising high school seniors from low income backgrounds, which focuses on journalism and the college admissions process.

Rotary Youth Leadership Camp: Does your student have what it takes to become a dynamic leader and change not only themselves, but the world? Teaches world-class leadership skills for rising high school juniors and seniors in a residential college setting (Guilford College).

Smith College Summer Programs for Young Women: A variety of summer programs in science and engineering, writing, women’s history, sustainability, and college admissions.

Summer High School Transportation Institute (STI) at NC A & T State University:  Introduces rising juniors and seniors to the many career opportunities available in the transportation industry and in supply chain management; features 5.5 non-residential weeks of field trips, hands-on projects, and networking opportunities with industry professionals. Summer Ventures in Science & Mathematics

Tarheel Boys State: Allows outstanding young men who are rising seniors to learn today how to lead tomorrow.  

Tarheel Girls State: Allows outstanding young women who are rising seniors to learn today how to lead tomorrow by creating their own government from the ground up; the non-partisan program attempts to teach and inculcate a love of country and to foster an understanding of the responsibilities of living in a free society; must rank in the top third of the junior class to be considered for selection.

Teens Westward Bound: What takes 23 days, passes through 22 states and covers more than 8500 miles? A Teens Westward Bound adventure! Teens Westward Bound is a cross-country road trip/venture for high school students that originates on the East Coast and heads due West.

UNC-Chapel Hill Project Uplift: High achieving African American, Native American, Latino/Hispanic, Asian American, low income, rural, and other rising seniors from historically underserved populations are invited to spend two days on campus to experience the academic rigor and social climate of UNC.

The UNC Department of Family Medicine will be offering a VIRTUAL summer academy this year to students slated to graduate this spring. Link to the website and application. Important to note...through grant support and donations, participation for the 2020 FMSA is FREE for accepted students. However, students must apply by the June 1st deadline.
