    Drive-Thru Graduation Ceremonies Planned

The Grimsley community is working hard to recognize the achievements of graduation with a unique ceremony suited to our times.

The class will be divided into groups of about 50 to accommodate the time to drive-thru, get out to walk across the stage, pick up yearbook, then exit the campus.  The path will be similar to the one followed on cap and gown delivery day.  The processional will continue into the student parking lot to a stage in front of the stadium entrance and will then exit at the lower parking lot.  Traffic on campus will be one way following the route. Click here for Map.

    • The graduate needs to be on the passenger side of the car, NOT the driver. Be sure you are wearing your cap and gown.  The tassel should be on the right side of your head.
    • There should be only one graduate per car (unless you are a twin).
    • Only the graduate will be allowed to exit the car for any reason.
    • You will need a sign in your car with your name on it. (Like for cap and gown delivery).
    • The path will be similar to the cap and gown delivery. You will enter campus from Benjamin Parkway at the back of campus near the Café. You will then follow the drive to the bus parking lot beside the Music Building.
    • Stop #1 – the Shelter in the Bus Parking lot. You will get a mask, an index card with your name, the NHS stole if you are a member of NHS.  (The stole will be returned after you walk across the stage.)
    • Stop #2 – the Stage in front of the stadium entrance. You will be directed to exit your car to get in a socially distanced line to walk across the stage.  When you get to the stage, you’ll place your name card in a basket.  You will share the pronunciation of your name with the name reader.  Your name will be read, you will walk to the center of the stage and pick up your diploma cover.  You’ll pause there for a picture with Mr. O’Donnell and will then exit the stage and return to your car.
    • Stop #3 – Diploma & Programs. Once back in your car, you’ll proceed along the path to pick up your actual diploma and your copies of the program for the event.
    • Stop #4 – Yearbook. You’ll proceed to the last stop to pick up your yearbook if you purchased one.  You’ll then exit the parking area to the right and follow Campus Drive to the light at Benjamin Parkway.
    • You and your family may decorate your car for the procession. Again, ONLY the graduate can leave the car.

    Instructions for Families:

    • You can arrive at any time during your alphabet designated time slot. Do NOT come during the break times in the schedule.  You will not be allowed through the process during those times.
    • Make sure the graduate is on the passenger side of the car.
    • Make a name sign for the window. The last name should be prominent to help facilitate the check in process.
    • Stop at Station #1 at the shelter in the bus parking lot to pick up items.
    • Follow traffic across Campus Drive and into the student parking lot.
    • At Stage #2, when indicated, the graduate will exit the car and will be lined up for the walk across the stage. Make sure the graduate has his/her name card from Station #1.
    • While the graduate is crossing the stage, the family car will continue in the flow of traffic. You can stop in front of the stage to take pictures.  Do NOT exit your car for any reason!!!
    • Once the graduate has exited the stage, he/she will get back into the car.
    • You will proceed to Station #3 to pick up the diploma.
    • You will then continue to Station #4 to pick up a yearbook if you have purchased one.
    • You will then exit the campus. Take a RIGHT on to Campus Drive and exit on to Benjamin Parkway at the light.

It is one of the most prestigious Grimsley has to offer. Think carefully about who you would consider to be the best all-around senior, and vote for them here by writing their full name in the boxes below. Only Seniors may vote and may only vote once.
