Greensboro, N.C. — Now that the district is in its third day of school closures, it has added even more learning resources online. Guilford County Schools Superintendent Sharon Contreras is urging families to use the materials while students are home from school.

New resources added:
- Elementary English Language Arts lessons are available for kindergarten through fifth grade with interactive read-alouds accessible on this YouTube link that match topics students are currently researching in classrooms.
- Middle and high school students may access a catalogue of digital content using Apex Tutorials. Middle school students can access grade-level English Language Arts content and high school students can access content from English I-IV, Math 1-3, Biology, American History II, and U.S. History.
- Math lessons for today are posted for kindergarten through eighth grade, and live support will be available from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. through this link: https://tinyurl.com/gcsignite. Click here for Skype instructions.
Those in grades K-12 can choose from coding lessons aligned to math, language arts, music, science or social studies through https://hourofcode.com/us/learn

.When parents join Guilford Parent Academy, they have access to free online resources, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Help your children practice reading, work on math skills, read eBooks and begin conversations about emotional topics and more!
It's free to join. All classes, learning experiences, online content and videos are free as well, thanks to our community partners.
Free downloadable e-books are available through this link, and students in grades 3-8 are encouraged to select a book connected to the theme within the current literacy unit. Grade-level themes are:
- Third grade: Bugs
- Fourth grade: Animal Adaptations
- Fifth grade: Ecosystems
- Sixth grade: Space
- Seventh grade: Weather
- Eighth grade: American Revolution
Students should use their student ID number as their user name, and their birthday (mm/dd/yyyy) as their password to access the district’s digital bookshelf.
Should GCS be closed additional days, more resources will be added to the website. All students, including those who are experiencing power outages or who do not have internet access at home, should continue reading 30 minutes per day, in keeping with the district’s GCS Reads 30 initiative.
