Greetings:
It is an honor to be part of such a strong faculty and staff here at ECG. My motto is "no excuses, just results." As part of my growth mindset philosophy, I believe that we can only grow when we step out of our comfort zone and go the extra mile.
I have worked in education with students ranging from 1st grade to 12th grade for 21 years in the public schools of Mississippi and North Carolina. Before that, I taught technology and economics courses to undergrads at Mississippi State University while working on and completing my doctorate in Instructional Systems, Leadership, and Workforce Development with a minor in finance and economics. While completing my doctorate, I taught history to 8th graders using WebQuest technology under the direction of Mr. Terry Miller and Dr. W.C. Johnson. I have a Master's degree in agribusiness from South Carolina State University and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Limestone University, where I played college basketball.
This year I am teaching economics and personal finance and AP macroeconomics. Additionally, I serve as the school test coordinator, a representative on the Superintendents' advisory council, and club advisor for Red Cross, and the DECA/economics challenge clubs.
Outside of school, I spend considerable time with my beautiful wife Mary, who is also an educator in the field of biology, and our two sons, J3 and Neal. In my spare time I enjoy reading motivational and investment oriented books, coaching and training on the basketball court, mentoring at-risk youth, officiating high school varsity sports, helping my parents, and working in my garden.
