Welcome to Ms. Kelly’s homepage!
This year will be my 19th year of teaching and 7th year at Northern Guildford High School. My teaching career started in 2004, teaching middle school mathematics at Northwest Middle for a year, followed by 5 wonderful years at Kernodle Middle School. I taught 8th-grade math and Algebra I prior to leaving in 2010 to join the Nighthawk nation under the supervision of Principal William Laine. During my first three years as a Northern Nighthawk, I served as the head of the mathematics department and a lead teacher for both Algebra I and II. In 2013, I joined the American Hebrew Academy as an Algebra I and II teacher for international students. I returned to Northern Guildford High School in 2019 and currently serve as the mathematics department head and Math 1 teacher.
I am originally from Midland, NC. I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for both my Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Math and Science as well as my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I received my National Board Certification in Early Adolescents in 2011 and completed a recertification in 2020.
I currently reside in Greensboro with my favorite family member, JackJack, the laziest GSP (German Shorthaired Pointer) known to man, and my new rescue, Willow, who has certainly taught me a lot about leadership and patience. When I'm not exercising both dogs, I am either at College Hill CrossFit, reading books, traveling to local NC beaches or visiting my family.
