I graduated from the US Naval Academy in May 1985, with a BS in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science. I completed my Master of Science Degree at the University of Maryland in December 1985. I excelled at the Navy's Nuclear Power pipeline training at Orlando, FL, and prototype at Idaho Falls, ID. My first ship was the USS Flying Fish (SSN-673), where I conducted an overhaul in Bremerton, WA, and then went through the Panama Canal to Norfolk, Va. During my time onboard, I also cruised on the USS Flasher (SSN-613) to qualify as Engineering Officer of the Watch and Officer of the Deck.

I reported to the US Naval Academy as an instructor in 1990 for the Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Department. I spent three summers teaching sailing and spent over 3,000 hours on the water.

My second ship was the USS Nevada (SSBN 733) stationed out of Bangor, WA, where I completed 9 patrols and served as Strategic Weapons Officer and Engineer.

In 1997 I took command of the Naval Reserve Center in Glens Falls, NY, and then reported to the Defense Resources Management Institute in Monterey, CA in 2000. After two years of teaching around the world, I assumed command of the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Greensboro, NC.

I retired in 2005, and have been teaching ever since. I spent 7 years at Northwest High School and transferred to Northern in 2012 to continue coaching softball. I have 4 daughters, and 1 foster daughter who graduated from Northwest, and one daughter who graduated from Northern in 2017.

I am Head Softball Coach, and Assistant Athletic Director, and hope to start a Sailing Club in the area. This is my twelfth year as head coach, after coaching for five years as an assistant coach/JV Coach at Northwest Guilford High School.
