General Check-out Procedures
We are excited to welcome classes during the week for our scheduled information literacy lessons or technology lab time, book browsing and book checkout. Students are not required to wait for their scheduled library class day to return and checkout books.
Students in 1st through 5th grades will be invited to check out two books per week of their choice. Kindergarteners will initially be checking out one book per week. If a class has a research project or special assignment, additional books may be checked out as needed.
All books check out for two weeks, but we encourage students to return their books weekly so that they can enjoy checking out new materials. Students may renew their books as needed so they can finish reading their books.
Overdue Items
Overdue reminders are printed approximately once a grading period. There are no overdue fines.
Lost or Damaged Items
Accidents happen to all of us! Please do not attempt to fix any rips or damage to a book at home as we have special materials at the library that we use. Students should bring the damaged book to Mrs. Baartz or Ms Childress so that we can assess the damage and try to make repairs. If the book cannot be repaired, there is a $5.00 replacement fine.
Students who lose a book will be assessed a fine of $5.00. These fines will be listed on the overdue notices. If the book is found and returned, the fine will be cleared from the account. Please send in payment to Mrs. Baartz.
