Mr. Duane D. Lewis

Greetings SCALE Greensboro Academy Students, Families and Community,

I am elated and proud to be the new Principal at SCALE Greensboro Academy. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to work with the SCALE Greensboro Academy and Structured Day staff  to make an impact in the lives of students and families who we will serve.  We have a dynamic staff who are committed to working with students to support their academic, social and emotional needs. My role as the Principal is to support my students and staff as a school family. I believe all students can learn by caring adults using a culturally relevant curriculum that will produce equitable outcomes for all students. I look forward to an outstanding school year working with our students, families and engaging with community partners.

Professionally, I have worked as a juvenile court counselor, school social worker and school administrator for 30 years.  In my years of experience, I have worked on the elementary, middle and high school level as an educator.  I am dedicated to working with my staff to educate the whole child using a holistic and village approach.

I am a 1992 graduate from NC. A&T State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work.  I received my principal’s licensure through the Piedmont Triad Leadership Academy (PTLA) in collaboration with the University of NC. @ Greensboro in 2013.  In 2022, I completed the Guilford Aspiring Leaders Academy (GALA), a leadership program to prepare African American male assistant principals for the principalship.

I am a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Through my fraternity and my role as an educator, I have served as a mentor and father figure to many students in Guilford County.

Personally, family time is important to me. I enjoy spending time with family and serving the community.

I am fortunate to be a part of the SCALE Greensboro Academy community. Please do not hesitate to contact me.  Working together, we will prepare our students to become productive citizens in a global and diverse society.

Yours truly in Education,

Duane D. Lewis
