Meet the Teacher...
Mrs. Dedra H. Cherry
About Me:
Hello and welcome! I am the dance educator at Parkrview Village Expressive Arts Elementary School. I have been teaching for more than 20 years in Guilford County and in the Alamance - Burlington City School Systems in grades K-3. In addition, I am also Montessori trained in both Lower and Upper Elementary. I have a bachelors degree in Communications/Broadcasting from Winston-Salem State University, and a bachelors and a masters' degree in Elementary Education from North Carolina A&T State University. In the coming months, I will be attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for dance.
At the age of five, I began dancing, cheering, tumbling, and doing martial arts. It is simply a way of life for me. I am extremely passionate about staying active, which I express through dancing, instructing, teaching fitness classes, training, coaching, cheering, gymnastics, and most of all, working with children. I enjoy the excitement that it brings to the faces and lives of the children that I have had the joy of working with. Whether I am in the classroom or the dance studio, I set high expectations for the students. I believe that every child can and will rise to meet their full potential when they know that you love and support them on their journey of learning, the discovery of themselves, their talents, mindset and personal growth.
Here at Parkview, "we are working together to build a team that we believe in, and in doing so, we will build a team that believes in us."
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!
